Everyone's a grammar Nazi about one particular pronoun: whom.

Apearances[]

  • The gag first appears in A Going Concern (s2e2), when Cyril raises the question about who would buy ISIS, Archer screams, "ODIN!", in Malory's office, to which Cheryl says, "Or whom?". Later, after Lana says her takeout is "sweet and sour, dumbass!" and leaves, to which Archer says to himself, "Yeah, who's the dumbass now, Lana?", Barry walks in and says, "Or whom?". Near the end of the episode, Archer asks Malory, "You sold the cleaner's? To who?", walks in and finds Popeye who responds, "Or whom?". Only Popeye's use of whom is grammatical in this episode.
  • In Heart of Archness: Part II (s3e2), when Rip Riley tells Archer he was just talking about him, Archer says, "With who? 'Cuz that buck-toothed little shit doesn't even speak English.", to which Bucky responds, "I do a little bit... and correct syntax is 'with whom'!". When Bucky has left, Archer says to Rip, "Who...", before correcting himself and saying, "To whom you are forbidden to speak!" He starts the sentence with the preposition to to boot.
